Not me, although I have to admit that many carpenters are really working hard to make this happen … personally I’m fighting for the opposite 😉
In fact, carpenters themselves show this hip of positivity and vision in different facebook groups 🙂
What really hides behind these prophecies?
IGNORANCE.
… Wait, before you get pissed or make it personal, I’ll tell you that I am the king of ignorance …
But in reality we are all ignorant because world is too complex today … and no one can presume to know everything, including Piero Angela (editor’s note: an Italian journalist famous for his documentaries) 😀
If someone tells me “Stefano, you’re ignorant” … I can only say one thing … “I know it”.
Certainly, not of everything … but of many things.
Being ignorant should not be taken as an offense …
The knowloedge of being ignorant must be taken as an incentive !!!
An incentive to do better.
An incentive to know more, also thanks to the help of those who have shown more competence and experience in a specific field.
An incentive to discuss.
An incentive to understand how others have overcome certain problems.
An incentive to objectively evaluate our results.
Too many carpenters, due to the fear of being considered ignorant, try to hide behind a fake knowledge, which is the PRESUMPTION OF KNOWING EVERYTHING.
And it is precisely the presumption of knowing everything, which creates the alibi for not learning anything more 😉
So will carpenters become extinct? For sure, those who act like know-it-all will … but there is another kind of carpenters.
There are also many carpenters who are aware of their ignorance … so they improve every single day.
They improve their knowledge, marketing, relationships with employees, sales skills, sales tools, process automation, material management, delivery times, internal organization …
According to my modest point of view, not only the know-it-all carpenters will close their activities (without even understanding why, since they already knew everything) but no one will miss them, because they will soon be replaced by Industrial Craftsmen, who “ignorantly” have continued to evolve, and who “ignorantly” have defeated the know-it-all carpenters 😉
